In Between Prayer
Jewish Orthodoxy includes 365 prohibitions and 248 commandments, men are obliged to pray three times a day. Masculinity in Orthodox Judaism is closely associated with prayer and spiritual devotion. In between the prayers young Hasidic men discover their various interests, experience themselves as musicians and test their limits as adventurous teenagers.
In Jerusalem, a city where Orthodoxy and Modernity are constantly clashing, Hassidism is also undergoing change.
I accompanied four young men photographically for several years, became part of their presence and everyday life, and let them express themselves in front of my camera.
